RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY

Type: Event space / Music Studio
Location: Montreal QC
Year: 2016
Size: 13,315 sqft / 1,237 m2

The 18th edition of Red Bull Music Academy took place at the Phi Centre, one of the city's most notorious cultural hubs located in a carefully restored, LEED certified heritage building. For the occasion, Atelier Zébulon Perron was given the mandate to develop the experimental dimension of the headquarters of the event, which lasted a total of 6 weeks. The mission consisted of designing the main sets, including an aggregate of studios and common spaces, with the aim of creating an ideal setting for musical discovery and artistic exchange. The interior of the Phi Center, which is usually very industrial and contemporary in style, was completely transformed, giving way to a rich, playful and intimate chromatic universe. In addition to housing ten room-studio and a huge main studio, the space included a large conference room / TV studio, a lounge and a cafeteria, all in an urban jungle atmosphere with a significant presence of foliage and plants. The project also included an administration floor, which housed the Red Bull Radio studio as well as the team responsible for all events presented during the month. Bearing in mind the reputation of the Phi Center as a hub for contemporary art, Atelier Zébulon Perron collaborated with the Trusst curatorial team to integrate numerous artistic works into all spaces of the Academy.
